chlorofluorocarbon - a molecule that contains chlorine, fluorine, and carbon atoms. Chlorofluorocarbons are also called CFCs.

Dichlorodifluoromethane is an example of a CFC, and it was once used as a refrigerant before it was discovered that CFCs can cause ozone depletion.
