Signed portrait of Paul J. Flory to Joe Labovsky

          Gift of Joe Labovsky

As part of Carothers' team, Paul J. Flory (later the 1974 Nobel laureate for chemistry) was responsible for developing tests to determine the molecular weight of the polymer samples, the conditions under which they could be made into fibers, and the stresses that they could withstand. Joe Labovsky, his technician, carried out the tests.
