About the Authors
William Bleam is science department chairman and teaches all levels of chemistry at Radnor High School, Radnor, Pennsylvania. He has co-authored chapters of several chemistry books, including the American Chemical Society's ChemCom and the ChemSource's SourceBook, and he wrote the teacher materials for the ACS student video, "People Who Took Chemistry, That's Who." He also serves as Pennsylvania's Polymer Ambassador, doing workshops for teachers, students, parents, and science/engineering groups within the state and across the country.
Donald McKinney was a chemistry teacher at Radnor High School in Radnor, Pennsylvania, before his retirement in 1999. Since that time in addition to his work at Chemical Heritage Foundation he has been a consultant for Rosemont College in Rosemont, Pennsylvania, for the Delaware County Intermediate Unit in Media, Pennsylvania, and for an Annenberg/CPB video series. He is also an adjunct instructor in science education at Widener University, Chester, Pennsylvania. He is the principal author of the Pharmaceutical Achievers module Magic Bullets: Chemistry vs. Cancer.
Mark Michalovic is an educational specialist at the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He holds a Ph.D. in polymer science from the University of Southern Mississippi and was the primary author of The Macrogalleria, that university's polymer chemistry electronic educational resource. He has been with CHF since 1999.
