    You Become What You Eat:
    Cooking up Prevention
    At The Phytochemistry Grill

Welcome to "The Phytochemistry Grill," where you'll learn to serve up food that not only tastes great, but might just keep you from getting cancer. After you have read the section on phytochemicals and have studied the list of major types of phytochemicals and the foods that contain them, you should be able to select recipes that supply some phytochemicals and that you would enjoy eating. Remember that small amounts of phytochemicals are usually present in foods and that these compounds do not appear on nutrition labels for foods. You will have to learn from this activity to look for foods that have relatively greater amounts of phytochemicals.

You should also remember that researchers are still investigating the anticancer effects of many of these chemicals. Many of the foods involved are, however, part of a healthy diet for general reasons, not just as cancer preventives.

You can find recipes in this activity in either of two ways, by phytochemical content or by meal. Click on the phytochemical category or meal you want, and a list of recipes will appear. You can then click on the name of any recipe and see the complete recipe.
