monoclonal antibody — an antibody that can locate and bind to cancer cells wherever they are in the body. Monoclonal antibodies recognize specific proteins on cancer cells. These antibodies are used to find tumors, attack tumors, or to deliver a drug or radioactive material straight to the tumor. Think of them as "smart bombs" for treating cancer. Monocolonal antibodies are human-made, being synthesized in the laboratory.
