    Leaving the Pack

    This activity is not intended for an entire class. You might simply want to tell students that this activity is here and let them browse. You might offer a challenge to the smokers in your class. It is not recommended that you require this assignment for the entire class.

    The activity is written as a direct message to your students who are smokers. It is also written so that students will decide on their own to get whatever help they need to quit. Students are encouraged to look for local help and support. You might want to contact local physicians, hospitals, and other health care agencies to find out what support structures already exist in your community and that are immediately available to your students. Your school nurse may know about smoking cessation programs available through the school. Local offices of these agencies also may be helpful:
