    You Become What You Eat:
    Nutrition and Cancer

    This reading is intended as a "lead in" to the section on nutrition and cancer. It provides the students with general information on the connections between nutrition and cancer. If you use the reading as a class activity, you might consider either of the following activities to accompany it:

    • Divide the class into teams and assign each team one of the guidelines at the end of the reading. Each team might be required to prepare a Power Point presentation on its assigned guideline.

    • Have students research the American Heart Association Guidelines, the American Cancer Society Guidelines, or the USDA Dietary Guidelines in greater detail.
