Neil Gussman is the strategic communications and media relations manager for Chemical Heritage Foundation, a library and museum in Philadelphia. For the past eight years he has written the column “We’re History” on oddities in the history of chemistry for Chemical Engineering Progress magazine (American Institute of Chemical Engineers), and news articles for Chemical Heritage magazine. He also reviews books on the history of chemistry and chemical weapons for Books and Culture magazine.
He recently decided to put his chemical background to use by returning to the Army National Guard after 23 years in 2007. He was deployed with Task Force Diablo, an Army Aviation Battalion stationed at Tallil Ali Air Base, Iraq. He returned in January of this year.
Gussman has a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities and a Master’s degree in American Studies. His master’s thesis was published as a book on the history of a Pennsylvania-based elder care corporation.
