Pennsylvania Rocked Chicago at BIO in PHL Life Sciences
April 30, 2013 - Chicago, IL
BIO 2013 celebrated its 20th anniversary in Chicago, April 21–25, and Pennsylvania was a big part of the momentous event that gathered leaders, innovators, and policy makers from 65 countries. The 1,500 square feet Pennsylvania Pavilion hosted Governor Tom Corbett and PHLLife was among the representatives that promoted resources and developments in Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) presented Governor Corbett with the 2013 BIO Governor of the Year Award for his leadership and commitment to the life sciences field. Also at the conference, BIO and Philadelphia’s Chemical Heritage Foundation presented Dr. George Rosenkranz with the 2013 Biotechnology Heritage Award. Dr. Rosenkranz’s specialty lies in the steroid hormone industry and the development of oral contraceptives. In the Pennsylvania Pavilion, designed around the history of innovation in our region, Pennsylvania Bio, PHLLife, University City Science Center and other partners promoted PHL as the BIO destination for 2015. Pennsylvania Bio’s chair Vin Milano, CEO of Viro Pharma, along with Pennsylvania Bio president Chris Molineaux, announced a goal to deliver 20,000 attendees to Philadelphia.
