Description

The portrait of Roger Bacon was part of a commission from the Bibliophile Society of Boston to illustrate The Bibliomaniac; or Book-Madness by Thomas Frognall Dibden. The prints were issued in 1903 in portfolio form owing to their popularity. In this print a contemplative Roger Bacon (c. 1214–1294) is seated on a bench in front of a fireplace dressed in a robe.
