Description

A portrait of Sir Joseph Banks (1743–1820), who is wearing the ribbon and star of the Order of the Bath. Banks is seated on an enthroned chair, holding a paper on the back of which are the words "The Bakerian lecture for 1808 by Humphrey Davy, FRS."
