Description
An engraving of Sir Marc Isambard Brunel (1769–1849), a civil engineer, seated next to a table. On the table are books and some of Brunel's inventions, such as a miner's safety lamp, a cotton winding machine, and a model of a lighthouse. In the background is a view of the Thames Tunnel.
