Episode 95: Cleaning Up—Retro Edition

Before and After Pelican

This week we’re digging into our archives and looking back at one of our first episodes of Distillations. With the explosion and consequent sinking of an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico in April, there are now untold amounts of oil leaking into the Gulf. In November 2007 there was an oil spill in the San Francisco Bay. Producer Catherine Girardeau took a look at some of the efforts to clean up this spill, including mushrooms and human hair. CHF’s Jody Roberts also talks about environmental remediation. Element of the Week: Mercury.
