Video Monday: Artificial Leaf

At CHF we’ve been bubbling about MIT professor and Innovation Day speaker Dan Nocera’s “artificial leaf” for a while now. Turns out his leaf is bubbling, too—oxygen and hydrogen, that is. Heyo!

MIT posted this footage of the device last week, courtesy of Nocera’s company SunCatalytix. Nocera estimates that once in development, the leaf will be able to generate what he calls “personalized energy”—electricity on a small scale for every household that needs it—using only sunlight and water. Encouraging stuff, especially when the world is rapidly approaching a population of seven billion little (and big) energy users.
