What is CHF's Board?

Today CHF’s Board of Directors gathers in Philadelphia for an intensive day and a half of meetings. The board is made up of 16 individuals who fall into one or more of the following categories: eminent scientists and engineers; business leaders; scions of important cultural organizations; generalist wizards. The President is also a member but – alas – falls into none of the illustrious categories.

The Board’s duty is to embrace the vision of the institution, monitor its progress, and approve its policies. It does so admirably and as a result, CHF flourishes at pushing the boundaries of preserving and communicating the essential heritage of chemistry and allied sciences.

The Board members are all unpaid volunteers. They do it for the sheer love of the subject, for the pleasure of each other’s company, and for the betterment of civilization. Noble, indeed.

And of course, given the Board’s nobility and stature, the President is never bored when the board is present.

Tom Tritton is President and CEO of CHF.
