Cheryl Baldwin Frech

Cheryl Baldwin Frech, professor of chemistry at the University of Central Oklahoma, talks about her lifelong mentor and the importance of pace when juggling a family and a career in academia.

Frech recently returned to full-time teaching after serving eight years as department chair at the University of Central Oklahoma. She serves the Oklahoma local section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) as public-relations chair. She is chair of the ACS national Committee on Public Relations and Communication and is a member of the Division of Chemical Education. She is an associate editor for book and media reviews for the Journal of Chemical Education. Frech has a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Oklahoma State University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in analytical chemistry from the University of Oklahoma.
