Make a Gift-In-Kind
CHF is the only organization in the world preserving the history of chemistry and related sciences through books, papers, photographs, fine art, and instruments. Individual and institutional donors have been the source for many of CHF’s most important acquisitions. Therefore CHF invites individuals and institutions to continue to help us build the Othmer Library’s major collections.
Quality, historical value, and research potential are key factors in CHF’s acquisitions, which fall into several broad collecting areas within the history of chemistry and related sciences:
- Rare and modern books and other printed materials
- Historical archives, including personal papers of scientists and engineers as well as organizational records
- Historical photographs of people and places
- Fine art, including paintings and prints
- Scientific instruments and other apparatus
- Historical artifacts, such as chemistry sets and molecular models
To donate in the categories listed above, please contact acquisitions@chemheritage.org. Having an itemized list prepared with, if possible, accompanying photographs or digital images of the objects you wish to give will be extremely helpful when contacting us. The final decision to accept donated materials is made by the appropriate curatorial staff at CHF and in accordance with our collections policy. For more information on giving-in-kind, please contact Ronald Brashear at 215.873.8284 or rbrashear@chemheritage.org.
