315 Chestnut Street
Philadelphia, PA 19106

Event Type: Open to the Public

Join us for an all-ages, Independence Day–themed science fair. Robert Hicks, director of the Mütter Museum, will appear in period costume to talk about medicine in the Civil War. Polymer chemist Tom Twardowski will produce smoke and colors and maybe even a few bangs. CHF’s Rosie Cook will perform a rainbow of color experiments and lead visitors in making their own tie-dye and lava lamps.

CHF's newest exhibit, Elemental Matters: Artists Imagine Chemistry, will be on display. CHF's permanent exhibit, Making Modernity, will also be open for viewing.
