Mary Lowe Good

In 1997 Mary Good became the first woman to receive the Priestley Medal, the highest honor given by the American Chemical Society. After 25 years as a chemistry professor, Good began directing research for a large chemical firm. She was a pioneer for women in research leadership, both in industry and in government. In 1993 President Clinton appointed Good to be the undersecretary for technology in the U.S. Department of Commerce.
